Following a recent visit to New Zealand, Stephen Halmarick, our Travelling Economist provides a review of economic performance and an outlook for the months ahead.
During his trip, Stephen met with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), New Zealand Treasury and a number of other market participants.
New Zealand has been one of the worlds top-performing economies since the downturn, it was the first major economy to raise interest rates in the first half of 2014. In this report, Stephen reviews key indicators including GDP growth, key export products, employment rates, consumer confidence levels, inflation rates and housing. Stephen also provides an analysis of monetary and fiscal policy, financial markets, and an update on the recent general election.
